Friday Night Live with William Porter (Alcohol Explained)

Janet Gourand chats to William Porter of the Alcohol Explained claim to fame.

Janet tells her story of how she was born in Oxford but spent most of her life in London. She followed a career in human resources training and development and became the HR director of Christie’s for a long time. Part of her job was to make sure his art specialists were happy so she wined and dined them at expensive restaurants. She travelled a lot and the drinking became part of her role as HR director. She moved to Cape Town and entered the Black Empowerment arena. She finally ditched the drink six years ago and she founded this wonderful group we all belong to: Tribe Sober. Her corporate and HR skills run a happy ship that sails beautifully in all storms! She has run plenty of workshops which anyone can still book.

Janet is now an advocate of the sober lifestyle and loves what she does – helping people ditch the drink without having to be called alcoholics or feel ashamed about their habits. The Tribe is a warm group of like-minded people who want to live a sober lifestyle and still have fun with friends!
