Lorna’s Poem

Farewell to Alcohol

You are the unwanted

But you let yourself right in

You are the unwanted

The twisted dagger in

You are the unwanted

The overstayed, drunk guest

You are the unwanted

Disguised as fear and jest

You are the unwanted

That fucked it all right up

You are the unwanted

The poison in my cup

You are the unwanted

That curdled my milk smile

You are the unwanted

That smells of blood and bile

You are the unwanted

And it’s time you saw the door

You are the unwanted

Such a sad and lonely bore

You are the unwanted

And it’s time for you to leave

You are the unwanted

I give myself reprieve
